Roulette Games Play Games Players bet on numbers, spreads of number combinations and colors, generated by the fall of a small ivory ball onto a spinning wheel which is divided into 37 or 38 numbered slots, depending on the version being played. Very little strategy is required as the game is completely random and based entirely on luck. Five Number Bet - This bet covers only the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. Pays 6:1 if any one of the numbers comes up. Six Number Bet - Covers two rows of three numbers each. The chip is placed on the outside line of the two rowscovered. Pays 5:1. One is the standard table, which has one betting layout with the roulette wheel at one end; the other, called the double-end table, has two layouts with the wheel in the center between them. The dealer spins the wheel in a counterclockwise direction then flips the ball on the bowl's back track so that it travels clockwise. Bets placed on the layout after this announcement are not valid and must be returned to the player(s) The numbers on the American roulette wheel are 1 to 36, 0, and 00. The numbers alternate between black and red. Both the 0 and 00 slots are green in color. The French roulette wheel has 36 numbers, and only the single zero, unlike the American roulette wheel which has the numbers 1 to 36 but with two zeros (0 and 00) That aside, French roulette is very similar to American roulette. Roulette would be a great game were it not for the highhouse edge - usually 5.26%, sometimes as low as 2.63%, which is still higherthan blackjack, craps, or baccarat. now, let's see how to play roulette. We've added blue circled letters to the diagram to point outhow to make the not-so-obvious bets (the sets of 2-6 numbers) You don't have to make just one kind of bet foreach spin, you can make several, and you win if the ball lands on any of yournumbers. you will likely lose money faster the morebets you make, because you're betting more. Don't reach for your winnings until the dealerremoves the marker, or the dealer will scold you. That way iftwo players bet on the same number (or set of numbers), then the dealer knowswho to pay, and arguments can't arise over who bet what. Sometimes the dealerwill ask you "Inside or Outside? If Black hascome up for the last 10 spins in a row, the next spin is not more likely to beRed. Black and Red still have equal chances of hitting. " That means it doesn't know what it spunbefore, and even if it did, the wheel can't select what number comes up out ofits own volition. Here's another example: Since there are 38 slots on the wheel,we expect any given number to hit 1 out of 38 spins on average. You can certainly switch toanother number if you want, but that won't improve or worsen your chances. Thechances of #27 coming up on a given spin are the same, whether it just come upon the last spin or not - 1 in 38. Your odds of winning aone-number bet are 37 to 1 (37 ways to lose, 1 way to win) if you win, thecasino doesn't pay you 37 to 1, they pay you less - 35 to 1. Ifyou win the second spin, your bet is "released from prison" and youget it back. Players purchase special roulette chips, each player with his own color, so that the dealer can tell who made a winning bet and pay off that player. Usually it takes a minimum of $20 to buy-in at the roulette betting table. The dealer will specify the worth of that particular coloured chip by mating a sample chip which is placed upon the rim of the wheel. Players may bet larger amounts by using $1, $5 and $25 regular. Additional combinations in this "inside" betting area are: one chip on a six number bet (pays 5 to 1); one chip on any four connecting numbers (pays 8 to 1); one chip on any connecting group of three numbers (11-1); one chip place between two connecting numbers (17-to-1) The "outside" betting area consists of odd or even bets which pay even money. A bet on 1 to 18, or 19 to 36, pays even money. It is up to you to pick up both your winnings and your original bet after the payoff. It bounces among the slots and finally falls into one of the numbered slots. Incidentally, there are about 90 spins or games played per hour, on average. The house edge is set at 5.26%, resulting from the player receiving odds of 35 to 1 rather than the true odds of 1 in 36 or 37 to 1. All in all, that edge is comparable to the "rake" in poker, and in some bets on the craps table, in baccarat and other games including sports betting.
