Roulette Game Gambling Information
A clever player is one who understands the betting possibilities. American roulette wheels usually have both the “0” and “00” on the wheel. Straight Up Bet - A chip is placed on one of the numbers. Pays 35:1. A bet placed on the ball landing on red or black, high or low numbers, odds or even numbers. Column Bets - A bet on which of the three columns of numbers the ball may landon. Pays 2:1. The croupier who spins the wheel and deals the game is called the "wheel roller" by casino employees. The players begin by making their bets, placing chips on the spaces of the layout in the manner permitted by the applicable rules for the area/state/country etc. The dealer spins the wheel in a counterclockwise direction then flips the ball on the bowl's back track so that it travels clockwise. Bets placed on the layout after this announcement are not valid and must be returned to the player(s) Both the 0 and 00 slots are green in color. The ball then drops into one of the slots as it begins to slow down. The French roulette wheel has 36 numbers, and only the single zero, unlike the American roulette wheel which has the numbers 1 to 36 but with two zeros (0 and 00) That aside, French roulette is very similar to American roulette. You should always calculate your expectedloss and how long you can play on a given bankroll before playing any game, butwith roulette it's especially important. When the ball is gettingready to drop, the dealer will wave his hand over the table, which means "Nomore bets". When the ball falls into a slot, the dealer will announce thenumber and the color, and place a marker on the layout where the winning numberis. Each player's chips are a different color. There's no advantage tolimiting yourself to inside or outside. In other games the color of the chipdenotes the denomination, but in Roulette the color denotes only which playerthe chip belongs to. Here's ahandy way to remember the payouts when you're betting on a set of numbers: Take36 divided by the quantity of numbers you're betting on, and subtract 1. It's important tounderstand that the outcome of the roulette wheel is truly random. If Black hascome up for the last 10 spins in a row, the next spin is not more likely to beRed. Black and Red still have equal chances of hitting. Here's another example: Since there are 38 slots on the wheel,we expect any given number to hit 1 out of 38 spins on average. Now let's sayyou've been playing Roulette for a few hours, betting on Red every time, andyou've been keeping track of what numbers have hit. The wheel has no memory. It's more important to know what the house edge is, than how to calculateit, but here's a quick analysis in case you're interested. If you play Roulette, the most important thing is to find a casino thatoffers the European wheel (which is called "Single 0" Roulette) Thelast time we checked, Single 0 Roulette was available at the Stratosphere andthe Monte Carlo on the Vegas Strip. Atlantic City has a special rule whichreduces the house edge to 2.7% on even money bets (Red/Black, Odd/Even,1-18/19-36): If 0 or 00 comes up on on even money bet, you lose only half yourbet. A stack of twenty 25-cent chips is valued at $5.00, and a stack of twenty 50-cent chips is worth $10. It is important to note that these roulette chips must be cashed in at the table. They may not be removed from the table when the player leaves. Actually, you can pick up a total of 36 chips which includes your original bet. A bet on 1 to 18, or 19 to 36, pays even money. You will get 2-to-1 odds if you select the winning number within the first, second or third dozen numbers. The same 2 to 1 odds are given for selecting any of the numbers in the three vertical columns of 12 numbers, located on one end of the betting surface For outside bets, the dealer will lay your winning chips alongside your original bet. Again, your original bet is left on the number or combination of numbers and it is up to you to reclaim that bet. In total, 38 numbers are represented on the betting layout. You will notice on our illustration of the standard roulette wheel that the numbers are not consecutively arranged around the wheel. The house edge is set at 5.26%, resulting from the player receiving odds of 35 to 1 rather than the true odds of 1 in 36 or 37 to 1. All in all, that edge is comparable to the "rake" in poker, and in some bets on the craps table, in baccarat and other games including sports betting.
