Roulette Game Gambling for Real
Roulette is a popular and classic casino game that is easy to play and has an enthusiastic following in online gaming. Players bet on numbers, spreads of number combinations and colors, generated by the fall of a small ivory ball onto a spinning wheel which is divided into 37 or 38 numbered slots, depending on the version being played. The dealer spins the wheel in a counterclockwise direction then flips the ball on the bowl's back track so that it travels clockwise. He does this as the ball slows down and is about to drop off the back track. That aside, French roulette is very similar to American roulette. The numbers alternate between black and red. Roulette is the game where you guess where the little marble is going to dropon the spinning wheel. For most bets it's fairly obvious - you can't miss theRed diamond for Red bets, and things like Even, 1-18, and 1st 12 are written outin plain English. Then he'll scoop up all the losing bets towards the dealer area. New players often have to betold this repeatedly the first time they play because they kept forgetting andbecause they're excited about collecting their winnings. Remember thatyou can bet inside or outside if you like; there's no requirement to bet both ona given spin. In this way, Roulette is more like slots - one single bet canwin a lot. Your odds of winning aone-number bet are 37 to 1 (37 ways to lose, 1 way to win) if you win, thecasino doesn't pay you 37 to 1, they pay you less - 35 to 1. If you play Roulette, the most important thing is to find a casino thatoffers the European wheel (which is called "Single 0" Roulette) European games have an option called en prison which reduces the house edgeto 1.35%, but it's generally not available in the U.S., even in casinos that usethe European wheel. Ifyou win the second spin, your bet is "released from prison" and youget it back. You don't get paid for the win, though, but it's better than losingit outright. Players purchase special roulette chips, each player with his own color, so that the dealer can tell who made a winning bet and pay off that player. The chips generally have a set value of 25 or 50 cents. If that number wins you'll receive 35 to 1 for every chip you have bet. The "outside" betting area consists of odd or even bets which pay even money. A bet on 1 to 18, or 19 to 36, pays even money. The same 2 to 1 odds are given for selecting any of the numbers in the three vertical columns of 12 numbers, located on one end of the betting surface For outside bets, the dealer will lay your winning chips alongside your original bet. In many instances, more than one coloured chip is on a winning number. Again, your original bet is left on the number or combination of numbers and it is up to you to reclaim that bet. In total, 38 numbers are represented on the betting layout. By design, they alternate between red and black and exactly opposite each other number is the corresponding higher and lower number. All in all, that edge is comparable to the "rake" in poker, and in some bets on the craps table, in baccarat and other games including sports betting.
