Some European casinos have only a “0”. Corner Bet – A bet placed on the crossed lines in the middle of four numbers. Pays 8:1. Five Number Bet - This bet covers only the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. Pays 6:1 if any one of the numbers comes up. Six Number Bet - Covers two rows of three numbers each. 1-12, 13-24 and25-36. Pays 2:1. One is the standard table, which has one betting layout with the roulette wheel at one end; the other, called the double-end table, has two layouts with the wheel in the center between them. The dealer spins the wheel in a counterclockwise direction then flips the ball on the bowl's back track so that it travels clockwise. Players may continue placing bets while wheel and ball are still in motion until the dealer yells (says) "No More Bets! American Roulette is played using a wheel that consists of thirty-eight slots, each with its own number. The numbers alternate pairs of odd numbers with pairs of even numbers. Atlantic City has a special rule whichreduces the house edge to 2.7% on even money bets (Red/Black, Odd/Even,1-18/19-36): If 0 or 00 comes up on on even money bet, you lose only half yourbet. You don't get paid for the win, though, but it's better than losingit outright. In effect, this variation has the ability to turn a loss into a tie. They may not be removed from the table when the player leaves. This area is referred to as the "inside" betting area. Inside bets consist of the following: single-number bets, including the 0, 00 and 1 through 36, are made by placing your chip in the centre of the number you select. The "outside" betting area consists of odd or even bets which pay even money. Red or black pays even odds. A bet on 1 to 18, or 19 to 36, pays even money. It is up to you to pick up both your winnings and your original bet after the payoff. All inside bets are paid by the dealer, directly to you. In total, 38 numbers are represented on the betting layout. It bounces among the slots and finally falls into one of the numbered slots. All in all, that edge is comparable to the "rake" in poker, and in some bets on the craps table, in baccarat and other games including sports betting. The single-0 European roulette wheel has a house edge of only 2.70%.
