Online American Roulette
Players bet on numbers, spreads of number combinations and colors, generated by the fall of a small ivory ball onto a spinning wheel which is divided into 37 or 38 numbered slots, depending on the version being played. Very little strategy is required as the game is completely random and based entirely on luck. This gives the players slightly better odds. A bet placed on the ball landing on red or black, high or low numbers, odds or even numbers. Column Bets - A bet on which of the three columns of numbers the ball may landon. Pays 2:1. Roulette is said by some to have been started or invented way back in 1655 by the French scientist Blaise Pascal, during his monastic retreat, and first played in a makeshift casino in Paris. To keep it simple, we'll call him the "dealer" and his assistant the "croupier". " That means it doesn't know what it spunbefore, and even if it did, the wheel can't select what number comes up out ofits own volition. There have been 152 spins (coincidentally,4 x 38), and so we expect that each number should have come up 4 times onaverage. You can certainly switch toanother number if you want, but that won't improve or worsen your chances. Thechances of #27 coming up on a given spin are the same, whether it just come upon the last spin or not - 1 in 38. Your odds of winning aone-number bet are 37 to 1 (37 ways to lose, 1 way to win) If you play Roulette, the most important thing is to find a casino thatoffers the European wheel (which is called "Single 0" Roulette) European games have an option called en prison which reduces the house edgeto 1.35%, but it's generally not available in the U.S., even in casinos that usethe European wheel. On even money bets when 0 comes up, instead of losing rightaway, your bet is "imprisoned" and rides again for the next spin. You don't get paid for the win, though, but it's better than losingit outright. One to six players are seated at the roulette table. Players purchase special roulette chips, each player with his own color, so that the dealer can tell who made a winning bet and pay off that player. Usually it takes a minimum of $20 to buy-in at the roulette betting table. In roulette betting, a player may request whatever value he wishes for his chips, above the 25 cent or 50 cent standard amount. Players may bet larger amounts by using $1, $5 and $25 regular. It is important to note that these roulette chips must be cashed in at the table. Additional combinations in this "inside" betting area are: one chip on a six number bet (pays 5 to 1); one chip on any four connecting numbers (pays 8 to 1); one chip on any connecting group of three numbers (11-1); one chip place between two connecting numbers (17-to-1) A bet on 1 to 18, or 19 to 36, pays even money. The same 2 to 1 odds are given for selecting any of the numbers in the three vertical columns of 12 numbers, located on one end of the betting surface For outside bets, the dealer will lay your winning chips alongside your original bet. Run a ruler or any straight edge across the diagram and you will see that the O is opposite the 00, 1 is opposite the 2, and so on up to the 35 being directly opposite the 36. The house edge is set at 5.26%, resulting from the player receiving odds of 35 to 1 rather than the true odds of 1 in 36 or 37 to 1. The single-0 European roulette wheel has a house edge of only 2.70%.
