Roulette is a popular and classic casino game that is easy to play and has an enthusiastic following in online gaming. By the skillful placing of bets on the table, a player can vary the amount of risk he is taking. Six Number Bet - Covers two rows of three numbers each. 1-12, 13-24 and25-36. Pays 2:1. A dealer (known as a croupier) spins the wheel in one direction and then rolls a small ball in the other direction. Making a bet is easy - you just place your chip(s) on the number(s), color, orsets you want to bet on. The house edge is the same whether youmake one bet per spin or several. you will likely lose money faster the morebets you make, because you're betting more. Remember thatyou can bet inside or outside if you like; there's no requirement to bet both ona given spin. In this way, Roulette is more like slots - one single bet canwin a lot. Black and Red still have equal chances of hitting. Here's another example: Since there are 38 slots on the wheel,we expect any given number to hit 1 out of 38 spins on average. There have been 152 spins (coincidentally,4 x 38), and so we expect that each number should have come up 4 times onaverage. The wheel has no memory. You can certainly switch toanother number if you want, but that won't improve or worsen your chances. Thechances of #27 coming up on a given spin are the same, whether it just come upon the last spin or not - 1 in 38. On an American wheel,there are 38 spots - numbers 1-36, plus 0 and 00. Your odds of winning aone-number bet are 37 to 1 (37 ways to lose, 1 way to win) The differencebetween the true odds and what they actually pay you is 2/38, or 5.26%. The Europeanwheel has a lower house edge (2.63%) because it has only 37 slots instead of 38(no 00) Ifyou win the second spin, your bet is "released from prison" and youget it back. In effect, this variation has the ability to turn a loss into a tie. The betting layout starts with numbers 0 and 00 at the top, then extends from numbers 1 through 36 at the far end of the table. This area is referred to as the "inside" betting area. Actually, you can pick up a total of 36 chips which includes your original bet. Red or black pays even odds. The same 2 to 1 odds are given for selecting any of the numbers in the three vertical columns of 12 numbers, located on one end of the betting surface For outside bets, the dealer will lay your winning chips alongside your original bet. The dealer knows you are the winner by the color of your chips. As the wheel turns, the ball loses momentum. It bounces among the slots and finally falls into one of the numbered slots. You will notice on our illustration of the standard roulette wheel that the numbers are not consecutively arranged around the wheel. By design, they alternate between red and black and exactly opposite each other number is the corresponding higher and lower number. The house edge is set at 5.26%, resulting from the player receiving odds of 35 to 1 rather than the true odds of 1 in 36 or 37 to 1. The single-0 European roulette wheel has a house edge of only 2.70%.
