Roulette is a popular and classic casino game that is easy to play and has an enthusiastic following in online gaming. Very little strategy is required as the game is completely random and based entirely on luck. American roulette wheels usually have both the “0” and “00” on the wheel. A bet placed on the ball landing on red or black, high or low numbers, odds or even numbers. Column Bets - A bet on which of the three columns of numbers the ball may landon. Pays 2:1. To keep it simple, we'll call him the "dealer" and his assistant the "croupier". The dealer spins the wheel in a counterclockwise direction then flips the ball on the bowl's back track so that it travels clockwise. Players may continue placing bets while wheel and ball are still in motion until the dealer yells (says) "No More Bets! The numbers on the American roulette wheel are 1 to 36, 0, and 00. Both the 0 and 00 slots are green in color. Roulette would be a great game were it not for the highhouse edge - usually 5.26%, sometimes as low as 2.63%, which is still higherthan blackjack, craps, or baccarat. You should always calculate your expectedloss and how long you can play on a given bankroll before playing any game, butwith roulette it's especially important. When the ball is gettingready to drop, the dealer will wave his hand over the table, which means "Nomore bets". Each player's chips are a different color. Sometimes the dealerwill ask you "Inside or Outside? There's no advantage tolimiting yourself to inside or outside. Roulette chips can in fact be any denomination - $1, $5,$25, etc. Roulette games have minimum bets, which will be posted on aplacard at the table. Minimum bets work differently for inside and outside bets. Inside bets canusually be as small a you like, as long as the total of all your inside bets isthe table minimum. Remember thatyou can bet inside or outside if you like; there's no requirement to bet both ona given spin. In this way, Roulette is more like slots - one single bet canwin a lot. The wheel has no memory. On an American wheel,there are 38 spots - numbers 1-36, plus 0 and 00. Thelast time we checked, Single 0 Roulette was available at the Stratosphere andthe Monte Carlo on the Vegas Strip. Atlantic City has a special rule whichreduces the house edge to 2.7% on even money bets (Red/Black, Odd/Even,1-18/19-36): If 0 or 00 comes up on on even money bet, you lose only half yourbet. Ifyou win the second spin, your bet is "released from prison" and youget it back. A stack of twenty 25-cent chips is valued at $5.00, and a stack of twenty 50-cent chips is worth $10. Usually it takes a minimum of $20 to buy-in at the roulette betting table. The betting layout starts with numbers 0 and 00 at the top, then extends from numbers 1 through 36 at the far end of the table. Additional combinations in this "inside" betting area are: one chip on a six number bet (pays 5 to 1); one chip on any four connecting numbers (pays 8 to 1); one chip on any connecting group of three numbers (11-1); one chip place between two connecting numbers (17-to-1) Red or black pays even odds. It is up to you to pick up both your winnings and your original bet after the payoff. All inside bets are paid by the dealer, directly to you. By design, they alternate between red and black and exactly opposite each other number is the corresponding higher and lower number. Run a ruler or any straight edge across the diagram and you will see that the O is opposite the 00, 1 is opposite the 2, and so on up to the 35 being directly opposite the 36. All red numbers are opposite the black numbers. The single-0 European roulette wheel has a house edge of only 2.70%.
