Roulette is a popular and classic casino game that is easy to play and has an enthusiastic following in online gaming. It's important tounderstand that the outcome of the roulette wheel is truly random. It's more important to know what the house edge is, than how to calculateit, but here's a quick analysis in case you're interested. Your odds of winning aone-number bet are 37 to 1 (37 ways to lose, 1 way to win) if you win, thecasino doesn't pay you 37 to 1, they pay you less - 35 to 1. If you play Roulette, the most important thing is to find a casino thatoffers the European wheel (which is called "Single 0" Roulette) Atlantic City has a special rule whichreduces the house edge to 2.7% on even money bets (Red/Black, Odd/Even,1-18/19-36): If 0 or 00 comes up on on even money bet, you lose only half yourbet. Run a ruler or any straight edge across the diagram and you will see that the O is opposite the 00, 1 is opposite the 2, and so on up to the 35 being directly opposite the 36. The house edge is set at 5.26%, resulting from the player receiving odds of 35 to 1 rather than the true odds of 1 in 36 or 37 to 1. The player has a 1 in 37 chance of winning and still gets 35 to 1.
