Casinos Casinos Game Roulette Software Roulette is a popular and classic casino game that is easy to play and has an enthusiastic following in online gaming. Players bet on numbers, spreads of number combinations and colors, generated by the fall of a small ivory ball onto a spinning wheel which is divided into 37 or 38 numbered slots, depending on the version being played. Five Number Bet - This bet covers only the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. Pays 6:1 if any one of the numbers comes up. Six Number Bet - Covers two rows of three numbers each. 1-12, 13-24 and25-36. Pays 2:1. Roulette is said by some to have been started or invented way back in 1655 by the French scientist Blaise Pascal, during his monastic retreat, and first played in a makeshift casino in Paris. One is the standard table, which has one betting layout with the roulette wheel at one end; the other, called the double-end table, has two layouts with the wheel in the center between them. A roulette table with a single layout is usually worked by two "croupiers". A double-end table with two layouts is operated by either three or four croupiers. To keep it simple, we'll call him the "dealer" and his assistant the "croupier". Bets placed on the layout after this announcement are not valid and must be returned to the player(s) The numbers alternate between black and red. The numbers on the roulette wheel alternate pairs of odd numbers with pairs of even numbers. Making a bet is easy - you just place your chip(s) on the number(s), color, orsets you want to bet on. You don't have to make just one kind of bet foreach spin, you can make several, and you win if the ball lands on any of yournumbers. The house edge is the same whether youmake one bet per spin or several. When the ball is gettingready to drop, the dealer will wave his hand over the table, which means "Nomore bets". When the ball falls into a slot, the dealer will announce thenumber and the color, and place a marker on the layout where the winning numberis. Don't reach for your winnings until the dealerremoves the marker, or the dealer will scold you. That way iftwo players bet on the same number (or set of numbers), then the dealer knowswho to pay, and arguments can't arise over who bet what. Inside bets canusually be as small a you like, as long as the total of all your inside bets isthe table minimum. Remember thatyou can bet inside or outside if you like; there's no requirement to bet both ona given spin. All the bets on the layout carry the same house edge, with the exceptionof 5-number Line Bet (0, 00, 1, 2, 3), which carries a whopping 7.29% edge! Black and Red still have equal chances of hitting. There's an old saying,"The wheel has no memory. The wheel has no memory. It's more important to know what the house edge is, than how to calculateit, but here's a quick analysis in case you're interested. Your odds of winning aone-number bet are 37 to 1 (37 ways to lose, 1 way to win) On even money bets when 0 comes up, instead of losing rightaway, your bet is "imprisoned" and rides again for the next spin. In effect, this variation has the ability to turn a loss into a tie. Players purchase special roulette chips, each player with his own color, so that the dealer can tell who made a winning bet and pay off that player. A stack of twenty 25-cent chips is valued at $5.00, and a stack of twenty 50-cent chips is worth $10. Usually it takes a minimum of $20 to buy-in at the roulette betting table. In roulette betting, a player may request whatever value he wishes for his chips, above the 25 cent or 50 cent standard amount. The betting layout starts with numbers 0 and 00 at the top, then extends from numbers 1 through 36 at the far end of the table. Red or black pays even odds. You will get 2-to-1 odds if you select the winning number within the first, second or third dozen numbers. Again, your original bet is left on the number or combination of numbers and it is up to you to reclaim that bet. Naturally, you can let it ride again on the next roll or even add other chips from your winnings. In total, 38 numbers are represented on the betting layout. Run a ruler or any straight edge across the diagram and you will see that the O is opposite the 00, 1 is opposite the 2, and so on up to the 35 being directly opposite the 36. The player has a 1 in 37 chance of winning and still gets 35 to 1.
