Some European casinos have only a “0”. Five Number Bet - This bet covers only the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. Pays 6:1 if any one of the numbers comes up. A bet placed on the ball landing on red or black, high or low numbers, odds or even numbers. All even moneyodds. Pays 1:1. 1-12, 13-24 and25-36. Pays 2:1. There are two standard styles of roulette tables found in American casinos. One is the standard table, which has one betting layout with the roulette wheel at one end; the other, called the double-end table, has two layouts with the wheel in the center between them. The numbers on the American roulette wheel are 1 to 36, 0, and 00. The numbers alternate pairs of odd numbers with pairs of even numbers. The numbers alternate between black and red. Both the 0 and 00 slots are green in color. That aside, French roulette is very similar to American roulette. The numbers on the roulette wheel alternate pairs of odd numbers with pairs of even numbers. now, let's see how to play roulette. Making a bet is easy - you just place your chip(s) on the number(s), color, orsets you want to bet on. In most games players can continuemaking bets even while the ball is still spinning. When the ball is gettingready to drop, the dealer will wave his hand over the table, which means "Nomore bets". Each player's chips are a different color. That way, you're not locked inand you always have the ability to change your mind. Roulette chips can in fact be any denomination - $1, $5,$25, etc. Minimum bets work differently for inside and outside bets. Inside bets canusually be as small a you like, as long as the total of all your inside bets isthe table minimum. Here's ahandy way to remember the payouts when you're betting on a set of numbers: Take36 divided by the quantity of numbers you're betting on, and subtract 1. You can certainly switch toanother number if you want, but that won't improve or worsen your chances. Thechances of #27 coming up on a given spin are the same, whether it just come upon the last spin or not - 1 in 38. On an American wheel,there are 38 spots - numbers 1-36, plus 0 and 00. The differencebetween the true odds and what they actually pay you is 2/38, or 5.26%. Atlantic City has a special rule whichreduces the house edge to 2.7% on even money bets (Red/Black, Odd/Even,1-18/19-36): If 0 or 00 comes up on on even money bet, you lose only half yourbet. European games have an option called en prison which reduces the house edgeto 1.35%, but it's generally not available in the U.S., even in casinos that usethe European wheel. You don't get paid for the win, though, but it's better than losingit outright. Usually it takes a minimum of $20 to buy-in at the roulette betting table. Players may bet larger amounts by using $1, $5 and $25 regular. This area is referred to as the "inside" betting area. Additional combinations in this "inside" betting area are: one chip on a six number bet (pays 5 to 1); one chip on any four connecting numbers (pays 8 to 1); one chip on any connecting group of three numbers (11-1); one chip place between two connecting numbers (17-to-1) Red or black pays even odds. In many instances, more than one coloured chip is on a winning number. Naturally, you can let it ride again on the next roll or even add other chips from your winnings. The perfectly balanced roulette wheel consists of 38 identical slots, individually numbered from 0, 00, 1 through 36. Incidentally, there are about 90 spins or games played per hour, on average. Run a ruler or any straight edge across the diagram and you will see that the O is opposite the 00, 1 is opposite the 2, and so on up to the 35 being directly opposite the 36. All red numbers are opposite the black numbers. The player has a 1 in 37 chance of winning and still gets 35 to 1.
